De bereidingswijze

Stap voor stap

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).

    Ongeveer 5 min

  2. 2

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, instant rice, onion, celery, egg, salt, pepper, and the portion of condensed soup for the meatballs.

    Ongeveer 3 min

Tip van de kok: Using your hands is the best way to mix meatball ingredients.

  3. 3

Gently mix the ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

    Ongeveer 1 min

Tip van de kok: Overmixing can make the final meatballs tough.

  4. 4

Shape the mixture into meatballs approximately 4cm (1.5 inches) in diameter.

    Ongeveer 6 min

Tip van de kok: Wet your hands slightly to prevent the meat mixture from sticking.

  5. 5

Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

    Ongeveer 2 min

  6. 6

Carefully place the meatballs in the hot skillet and sear them on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

    Ongeveer 7 min

Tip van de kok: Don't overcrowd the pan; sear in batches if necessary for a better crust.

  7. 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining condensed tomato soup and water, then pour the sauce over the browned meatballs in the skillet.

    Ongeveer 2 min

Tip van de kok: If you seared in batches, make sure all meatballs are back in the skillet before adding the sauce.

  8. 8

Cover the skillet with a tight-fitting lid, transfer it to the preheated oven, and bake for 60 minutes.

    Ongeveer 1 uur

Tip van de kok: The meatballs are done when cooked through and the rice grains have softened and popped out slightly.

  9. 9

Carefully remove from the oven and let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving.

    Ongeveer 5 min

Tip van de kok: Resting allows the juices in the meatballs to redistribute, making them more flavorful.
