The method

Step by step

  1. 1

Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan.

    About 2 min

  2. 2

Add the black tea bags to the boiling water and let them steep for 3-5 minutes, or until the tea is strong.

    About 4 min

Cook’s note: For a stronger tea flavor, steep for a full 5 minutes.

  3. 3

Remove the tea bags and discard them.

  4. 4

Stir in the condensed milk and evaporated milk until fully combined.

    About 1 min

Cook’s note: Adjust the amount of condensed milk to your preferred sweetness.

  5. 5

To 'pull' the tea, carefully pour the hot tea mixture from one mug or pitcher to another, holding them at a distance to create froth. Repeat this process several times.

    About 1 min

Cook’s note: Be cautious as the tea is hot. Alternatively, whisk vigorously in a saucepan for froth.

  6. 6

Pour the frothed Teh Tarik into serving mugs and serve immediately.
