The method

Step by step

    Combine the chickpeas, water, minced garlic, harissa, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and black pepper in a large pot or Dutch oven.

    Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
