Glazed Cocktail Sausages

Mise en place

Ingredients

  • 450 gcocktail sausage
  • 360 mlred wine, for cooking
  • 1 cupgrape jelly

Equipment

saucepan · mixing bowl · stirring spoon

The method

Step by step

  1. 1

In a medium bowl, combine the cocktail sausages and red wine.

    About 2 min

Cook’s note: A glass or ceramic bowl is best for marinating with wine.

  2. 2

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, or overnight.

    About 8 hr

Cook’s note: This marinating step helps the sausages absorb the flavor of the wine.

  3. 3

Pour the sausages and their wine marinade into a medium saucepan.

    About 1 min

  4. 4

Add the grape jelly to the saucepan and stir to combine.

    About 2 min

Cook’s note: The jelly won't fully dissolve until it heats up, which is fine.

  5. 5

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally to help the jelly dissolve.

    About 5 min

  6. 6

Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and glazes the sausages.

    About 10 min

Cook’s note: The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.

  7. 7

Serve the sausages warm, with toothpicks for easy handling.

Cook’s note: These are great kept warm in a small slow cooker for a party.
