Ingredients

Measurements

Converted for display; the recipe amounts stay equivalent.

  • 400 gcrushed pineapple, drained
  • 425 gfruit cocktail, drained
  • 600 gcherry pie filling
  • 400 gsweetened condensed milk
  • 340 gwhipped topping, thawed

Equipment

large bowl · spatula · can opener · sieve

The method

Step by step

  1. 1

Drain the crushed pineapple and fruit cocktail well using a sieve or colander.

    About 3 min

Cook’s note: Pressing gently on the fruit will help remove excess liquid, preventing the salad from becoming watery.

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained pineapple, drained fruit cocktail, cherry pie filling, and sweetened condensed milk.

    About 2 min

  3. 3

Stir with a spatula or large spoon until all the ingredients are evenly mixed.

    About 2 min

  4. 4

Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until just incorporated. Be careful not to overmix, as this will deflate the topping.

    About 3 min

Cook’s note: Use a gentle figure-eight motion with a spatula to fold the whipped topping in without losing its airy texture.

  5. 5

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least one hour to allow the mixture to chill and the flavors to meld.

  6. 6

    Serve the Dobbin chilled.
