  • 2 tbspfresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbspparmesan cheese, grated(optional)

The method

Step by step

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).

    About 5 min

  2. 2

In a small bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, salt, and black pepper.

    About 2 min

Cook’s note: Ensure the butter is truly soft for easy mixing.

  3. 3

If using, stir in the grated parmesan cheese.

  4. 4

Slice the baguette lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through, so the two halves remain connected at the bottom.

    About 1 min

Cook’s note: You can also slice it into individual pieces if preferred.

  5. 5

Generously spread the garlic butter mixture onto the cut sides of the baguette.

    About 2 min

  6. 6

Place the baguette on a baking sheet, cut-side up.

  7. 7

Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the garlic is fragrant.

    About 15 min

Cook’s note: Keep an eye on it to prevent burning, as oven temperatures can vary.

  8. 8

Remove from the oven, slice into individual portions if not already done, and serve warm.
