Ingredients

  • 400 ggreek sausage (loukaniko), pre-cooked or raw
  • 1 tbspolive oil

for serving

  • 1 pcslemon, cut into wedges

for garnish

  • 2 tbspfresh parsley, chopped(optional)

Equipment

tongs · skillet · cutting board · knife

The method

Step by step

  1. 1

If using raw loukaniko, prick each sausage a few times with a fork to prevent bursting and allow fat to render.

    About 1 min

Cook’s note: This step is not necessary for pre-cooked sausages.

  2. 2

Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.

    About 1 min

  3. 3

Add the olive oil to the hot pan.

  4. 4

Place the greek sausage in the pan, ensuring they are not overcrowded.

Cook’s note: Cook in batches if necessary to avoid steaming the sausages.

  5. 5

Cook the sausages for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through.

    About 15 min

Cook’s note: Cooking time varies based on whether the sausage is raw or pre-cooked. Raw sausage will take longer.

  6. 6

Remove the cooked greek sausage from the pan and let them rest for a couple of minutes on a cutting board.

    About 2 min

  7. 7

Slice the greek sausage into thick rounds or serve them whole.

    About 1 min

  8. 8

Arrange the loukaniko on a serving platter with the lemon wedges.

    About 1 min

  9. 9

Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Keep it good

Storage
